Michael Allen Rondeau August 27, 1965 – April 8, 2026

Michael Rondeau, affectionately known as “Papa Bear” or “Papa Mike,” passed away at the young age of 60 on April 8, 2026, at home, surrounded by the nature he so deeply loved. He was born on August 27, 1965, in Potsdam, New York, to Ronald and Dolly (Ethel) Rondeau.

Michael was a dedicated student and lifelong learner. He graduated from North Country Community College in 1987 and Clarkson University in 1989, later earning his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation in 1992. At a young age, and fresh off his certification, he and his original mentor, Scott Boushie, struck out on their own and built a successful firm from the ground up, establishing Boushie and Associates in 1992.

In 2003, Mike took on a new role as Chief Financial Officer for Adirondack Arc in Tupper Lake, New York, and later, in 2017, served as CFO for North Country Management Services Organization.

From a young age, Michael had a deep love for the outdoors and simple, meaningful pursuits—something illness in his later years took from him. He would whistle and howl to interact with owls, birds, and even distant wolves. He had a great appreciation for Native American lore, and a love for Wyoming and Montana, horses, and the spirit of the cowboy—though at heart, he often said he wanted to live like a hermit, much like his great-great uncle, Noah John Rondeau.

Mike was also an avid collector, gathering bird feathers, rocks, and unique pieces of wood, always seeing potential for a future project in the things others might overlook. In addition to his collections and projects, his artistic ability shined through the songs he wrote and played. He spent countless late nights with his guitar and his thoughts, creating music and poetry from within his heart and soul.

Above all, Michael was a devoted husband and a loving father figure to his children, stepchildren, and many others whose lives he touched over the years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mitzy; his children, Tyler Rondeau, Briannah (Andrew) Patterson, and Randi Rae (Ahren) Baumann; and his stepchildren, Kyle (Aimee) Ohlidal, Adrienne Pieluszczak, and Alex Ohlidal.

He was a proud and devoted grandfather to ten grandchildren: Oaklynn, Aspen, and Rowan Patterson; Archer Baumann; Kayden and Jacob Ohlidal; Adam, Micah, and Ben Pieluszczak; and Charlotte Ohlidal.

Michael is also survived by his brother, Doug (Donna) Rondeau, and his nephew and niece, Justin and Jena (J) Rondeau. He was predeceased by his parents.

Those who knew Mike will remember his brilliant and witty mind, as well as his remarkable ability to make people laugh and smile. Mike was passionate in what he believed in and would not back down! Unfortunately, this got him into hot water, many times!

A Celebration of Life to honor Michael’s life will be held on August 29, 2026. Additional details will be shared as arrangements are finalized.
