Michael Edward Trombley, 76, of Morrisonville, New York, and New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away on August 19, 2026.
Michael was born on May 30, 1950, in Plattsburgh, New York, the son of Napolean and Elizabeth Trombley.
He graduated from SUNY Canton with a degree in Construction Engineering and went on to own and operate
Tracy Trombley Construction Company for more than three decades. Through his work, Mike helped build many important places throughout the North Country, including schools, fire departments, and St. Augustine's Church. His company also played an integral role in the construction of sites for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, including the Olympic Oval, ski jumps, and Athletes' Village. The buildings and facilities he helped create remain a lasting part of his legacy throughout the region.
Michael also proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserve. He was an active and dedicated member of the Elks Lodge, where he served as Exalted Ruler, District Deputy, and Trustee.
Michael shared 55 years of marriage with his high school sweetheart, Virginia. Above all else, family was the center of his life. He was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren and especially loved watching, supporting, and cheering on his grandchildren in their many pursuits.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia; his son Robert and his wife, Heather of Morrisonville, NY; his daughter, Heather Finger, and her husband, Robert of Manlius, NY; and his son Corey and Raeanne of Peru, NY. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Josalin, Robert, Joshua, Christopher, and Matthew.
He was predeceased by his parents, Napolean and Elizabeth Trombley, and his sister, Mary Doherty.
Outside of the time he spent with his family, Michael enjoyed hunting with Joe's Club, fishing, and the friendships and traditions that came with both. His life was marked by devotion to his family, pride in his work, and service to his community.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Peru.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Michael's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
To those who loved him most, he was simply Mike, Dad, Barney, and Papa - a constant presence in their lives, their biggest supporter, and someone whose love for his family was evident in everything he did.
