Mitchel W Garrand

Plattsburgh Mr. Mitchel W. Garrand, 93, of Plattsburgh, New York passed away March, 24 2016 at the UVM CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh, New York on April 13, 1922 the son of Camille and Delphine (Garrow Dit St. Onge) Garrand. Mitchel worked for the New York State Department of Corrections as the Head Engineer at the Power Plant in Dannemora, NY and was a handy man, working around the house or fixing his furnace. He was a faithful catholic and a member of St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Mitchel enjoyed regularly going to McDonald's for his favorite breakfast. He loved to be outside, caring for his vegetable garden, mowing his lawn, or sitting by a bonfire with his family. In his retirement Mitchel drove for Clinton County Public Transportation and Flak Tour Bus Company. Mitchel is predeceased by his wife, Norma Jeanette Gamache, two brothers; Elmer and Carson, five sisters; Peggy, Stella, Dora, Verda , Madeline, and Mabel. He is survived by his children; Brenda Burl and her husband Robin, Sondra Mooso and her husband Robert, Beverly Ducatte and her husband Gerald, Mike Garrand and his wife Margo, and Wayne Garrand and his wife Nona, his grandchildren; Angela Garrand, Brandon Burl, Bridget Burl, Timothy Mooso, Gerald Ducatte Jr., Robin Lebel, Amanda Garrand, Sarah Burke, Benjamin Garrand, his several great-grandchildren, brother in laws, Joe Gamache and Charlie Fink, and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on March 30, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Entombment will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Plattsburgh, NY. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
