Pamela J. Newell

December 24, 1955 — January 19, 2026

Pamela “Pam” Jean Newell, 70, of Genesee Lane, Plattsburgh, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at UVHN: CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Plattsburgh on December 24, 1955, the daughter of Harold and Naomi Girard.

She was the most loving and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, whose kindness and generosity touched everyone who knew her. On June 10, 1978, she married the love of her life, Ronald Newell, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned decades.

She dedicated much of her life to caring for others, first as a loving daycare provider for 20 years, where she treated every child as if they were her own. She later began a long and fulfilling career at North Bowl Lanes, where she worked for an additional 24 years before retiring in 2024. Prior to her employment at North Bowl, she also assisted in running the Saturday morning youth bowling leagues for eight years, a role she took on when her own children began bowling. Together with her husband, she played an active role in fundraising by organizing the annual Children’s Miracle Network Bowl-a-Thon and raffle.

She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and especially enjoyed attending games against the Dallas Cowboys. She loved traveling with family, taking NASCAR trips to Dover, Delaware, and spending her quiet time creating diamond art paintings, playing games on her tablet, and watching her favorite daytime soap operas, Hallmark movies, and the Game Show Network. She also found great joy in cooking and baking, particularly her Christmas goodies, and took pride in preparing for the family’s annual Christmas Eve gathering, which also happened to be her birthday—a celebration she cherished deeply.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ron Newell; her children, Kelly Newell and Darrell Newell; her sisters, Denise Brown and Elisa LaValley; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Linda Rood, Carol VanHise (Ron), Robert Newell (Karen), Daniel Newell (Cheryl), and Mary LeClair (Carl); her granddog, Tessa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her parents; her grandparents, Randall and Georgia Deso and Harold and Lena Girard; her mother- and father-in-law, Robert and Jane Newell; her brothers-in-law, Doug LaValley, James Rood, Robert Chagnon, and David Newell; her sister-in-law, Kathy Chagnon; her granddog, Toby; and several beloved pets throughout the years. Among them all, her dog Bailey held an especially special place in her heart and was truly her baby.

Pam’s love for family, her commitment to community, and the warmth she brought into every room will be remembered always.

A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday January 23, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh, calling hours will follow until 6:00 pm. Inurnment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh later in the year.
