Patricia A "Patty" Parrotte (Mccorry)

Patricia Anne Parrotte, 55, from Saranac, NY, passed away on June 9th, 2017 after a relentless battle with cancer. She was born on November 29, 1961 and grew up in Dannemora, NY. Her parents were William McCorry and Dorothy (Carter) McCorry, both from Dannemora. She is predeceased by her father. Patty is survived by her mother and her three siblings: Michael McCorry and his wife, Peggy; Kathleen Tetreault and her husband, Shawn; and Colleen McCorry. Patty was a mother, first and foremost. She had four children. Her oldest son, Robert J. Varney, passed away on March 5th, 2017. She is survived by four other children: Dorothy (Varney) Donahue and her husband, Matthew Donahue, of Morrisonville; Corey Grenier and his companion, Tara Woodward and her son Jeffrey, of Peru; Samantha Parrotte and her companion, Andrew Magnanti, of Saranac; and her step-daughter, Sarah Parrotte, of Plattsburgh. Patty had three grandchildren: a grandson, Gabrien Donahue, and a granddaughter and grandson, Dylan and Jackson Varney, of Portsmouth, NH. Patty was married to her husband, Todd Parrotte, for 20 years. They were private people and had simple interests such as yard sales and listening to music together. They had visions of growing old together that will forever remain in Todd's heart. Patty had many friends and was liked by all who met her. She could talk on the phone for hours, and always enjoyed chatting over a cup of coffee. Her best friend was her cousin, Julie Tamer. Patty loved watching old black-and-white movies, and always had the television on TVLand. She gave herself beautiful manicures and her nails always looked perfect. She enjoyed cooking for her family, and surprising them with homemade desserts. Patty was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer in November of 2016. She received chemotherapy through Fletcher Allen in Vermont, and sought a second opinion at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital in NYC after the treatment plan was unsuccessful. At the end of April 2017, we were devastated to learn that there was no cure because the cancer had already metastasized to her spine. Patty's battle with cancer may have only started in September, but the road was a grueling one, and Patty suffered from day one. Along with the cancer, she was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called Dermatomyositis, which caused her skin to itch and burn, and also break out in deep sores. She was constantly uncomfortable and in pain. In the beginning of March, Patty ended up in the hospital for neutropenia. It was then that her son passed away unexpectedly, and it was then that her struggle became even harder. The Dermatomyositis quickly spread to her muscles, resulting in her throat closing up and unremitting weakness and pain throughout her entire body. Still Patty did not give up. For the love of her family, she fought every day to try to overcome one ailment after another. Her fortitude throughout this fight was nothing less of amazing. She lived every second of every day in discomfort and distress, but would not give up as long as there was hope. Her family stuck by her side and helped to give her strength, never letting go of the possibility of a miracle. They took care of her, spending endless nights with her in the hospital in Burlington, and never leaving her side when she was able to be at home. Her friends offered continued support, sent their best wishes, and never stopped praying for her. The thoughtfulness of the community has been overwhelming as well. It is very clear how much Patty was loved and admired. Her family was able to raise over $2000 in donations through GoFundMe to help pay for the endless expenses. Just this past Friday, the 10th of June, the community raised over $5000 through a successful benefit event. The family wishes to thank everyone for their compassion, their generosity, and their prayers during this unbelievably difficult time. All the love and amity shown over these past 10 months meant the world to Patty and her family, and will never be forgotten. Although Patty will be missed more than words can say, we must always remember that she is no longer suffering. There is a sense of peace within the family because we know that she is not alone. Her son, Robert, was waiting for her. The image of their reunion is a joyful thought to hold on to in the sorrowful days ahead. Patty's undying spirit and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her and loved her.
