Richard J. Dandrow, 77, of Haley Avenue, Plattsburgh, NY passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at the UVM Health Network-CVPH. He was born in Plattsburgh on November 26, 1947, the son of Leonard and Marie (Stay) Dandrow.
Dicky graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1966 and soon after joined the United States Marine Corps. After being honorably discharged he returned to Plattsburgh and began working for his grandfather Theodore Stay. Dicky married Susan Garrow at St. Peter's Church on September 28, 1968. Dicky would go on to open his own painting company, Dandrow's Painting. The business would expand from Plattsburgh to across New York State.
Dicky enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida and fishing trips to Alaska with his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, his grandson Nicholas Richard Gadbois.
Dicky is survived by his wife of 56 years, Susan of Plattsburgh, his daughters; Keri LaMare and her husband John of Plattsburgh and Julie Dandrow and her companion Scott Wright of Florida, his grandchildren; Emily Gadbois and her fiance Daniel Moorhead, Hayden Reidy and Jack Reidy, his siblings; Theodore Dandrow and his wife Tonia, Mitchell Dandrow and his wife Lee, Ella Favaro and her husband Brent and Nancy Dandrow, several nieces and nephews also survive him.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday July 24, 2025 from 11:00 to 1:00 pm, a funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm, burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
Donations in Dicky's memory may be made to the Foundation of CVPH Medical Center.
