Richard A. Green, 64, of Ellenburg Depot, passed away Friday, October 23, 2020 at his home under the loving care of his son. He was born in Cambridge, MA on August 1, 1956 to Helene (Pappas) and the late Arthur Green. He moved to the North Country many years ago to pursue his lifelong dream of owning his own pizza shop. He bought Auggy’s Pizza Shop in Dannemora and worked alongside his mother. He was happiest when he was putting a smile on people’s faces with his delicious food. His family in Boston always looked forward to making the drive to eat his pizza and wings.
He loved to drive and loved his family even more. He never missed a monthly 10 hour round trip drive to Boston to see his daughter. His nieces and nephews adored their Uncle Richie and his unexpected drop-in visits. He never missed Jeopardy and would often shock people with how quickly and accurately he would get the correct answer. He gave the best life advice which will be missed deeply.
He is survived by his mother Helene; son Richard of Ellenburg Depot; his daughter Erica of Boston; his sister; his brother Arthur of Somerville, MA; his sister Valerie Geurtze of Oregon; his nephew Arthur Green of Boston; his nephew Robert Green of Lynn, MA; his niece Taylor Green of Boston; his nephew John Giangrande of Oregon; his cats Coca, Chuppa, and Gizmo; his grand pups Lily Rue and Gizmo and many cousins. He loved his family deeply.
His family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses who showed so much kindness throughout his courageous battle with cancer.
