Richard H "Rick" Nazak

Richard H. "Rick" Nazak, 66, of Peru, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the UVM Health Network-CVPH with his family and closest friends by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh on March 6, 1952, the son of John and Vivian (Florentine) Nazak. Rick graduated from Beekmantown Central School in 1972. He was a man of many talents, working many professions during his life; he was a self-employed logger in his early years, later working at Imperial Wallcoverings as a machine operator. He later attended Lincoln Electric Welding School in Ohio and became an AWS certified Structural Welder. He was the sole proprietor of Harkness Fabrication and Ironworks for over 20 years. He completed his working years as a bus driver for Peru and AuSable Valley Central Schools along with North Star Industries in Saranac Lake. His passions in life included hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling; with several trips to Utah, West Virginia, and New Hampshire. In his free time, he often could be found at his camp with his wife, or working side-by-side with her. He is survived by his wife, Gail (Darrah) Nazak whom he married on September 5, 1986, his mother Vivian of Saranac, his sister Shari of California, his mother-in-law, Edna Darrah of Plattsburgh, sister-in-law, Kay Darrah, of Queensbury, brothers-in-law, Neil Darrah and his wife Donna of Plattsburgh, and Jeffrey Darrah of Plattsburgh, his nieces Kristy Darrah of West Chazy, Jenny Falco of Queensbury, and Brittany Dolan of Hawaii, a nephew, Connor Dolan of Florida, and one great-niece, Kennedy Ritter of West Chazy. He was predeceased by his father, father-in-law, Edward Darrah, his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Florence Nazak. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel.
