Robert "Instant Bob" Evans

Mr. Robert "Instant Bob" Evans, 80, of Plattsburgh, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March 2, 2016 at the UVHN-CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, NY with his loving family by his side. He was born in Utica, NY on April 11, 1935; the son of Arthur and Evelyn (Craven) Evans. In 1953, Bob enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. and proudly served his country until 1961. After serving his country, Bob returned to Utica, NY to begin his career as a journeyman plumber. In 1963, he relocated to West Haven, CT, where he was employed from 1963 - 1979 by Armstrong Tire Company as a pipe fitter. In 1979, Bob relocated his family to the Plattsburgh, NY; where he founded and operated Bob's Instant Plumbing, Inc. and Bob Evan's Fire Sprinkler Service. Upon retiring in 2000, Bob along with his wife spent the next 15 years in Ormond Beach, Florida with his daughter Pamela and her family. In retirement, Bob enjoyed working as a Realtor and founded Bob Evans Technology Home Inspection Services in Ormond Beach, FL. His hobbies included train collecting, antique collecting, traveling and reading. His favorite newspapers included The Wall Street Journal and The Barron's. He was passionate about his country and enjoyed discussing political events with family and friends. Bob was a member of St. John's Parish in Plattsburgh, NY and also a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Ormond Beach, FL. He will be greatly missed by those he has known and left behind. He was a great mentor that taught his family the value of surrounding yourself with family and those you love. He will be fondly remembered by his children and grandchildren for his consistent words of wisdom and never ending advice whether it was wanted or not, but always appreciated. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years Agnes (Gontarz) Evans, a daughter, Pamela (Perry) Weiker and their children, Paul (fiancé Devon Thompson), Shawn, and Andrew; a daughter, Brenda (Ronald) Stevens and their children, Nicholas Hyde, Alexander (Panagiota) Hyde, Nathaniel (Kristen) Hyde, Manon Stevens, Sarah Stevens; a son, Jeffrey (Joan) Evans and their son, Joshua Evans; a daughter, Heidi (James) Barcomb and their children, MaCullen Cope, Rayya Barcomb, Linda (Jeremy) Davis, Krista (fiancé, Cory Davison) Barcomb. Other surviving members include a sister, Joan LaFayette, sister in-laws, Dorothy Brunk and Pauline Baker, several nieces, a nephew, several great great grandchildren, and his beloved Yorkshire Terrier, "Bella". Bob was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Evelyn; sisters Elizabeth and Marilynn; a beloved Aunt Mary "Mimi" Evans and brother-in-laws Robert Brunk, Donald LaFayette and Edward Baker. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Cancer Society or Make -a- Wish of Northeast New York. Calling hours and services will be private.
