Robert H Lavarnway

Plattsburgh Mr. Robert H. "Bob" LaVarnway, 61, formerly of Cadyville and most recently Sharron Avenue, Plattsburgh, NY passed away on Wednesday December 21, 2011 at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on November 27, 1950 the son of Harold and Marie (Rock) LaVarnway. Bob graduated from Saranac Central School. He was a Correction Officer for twenty five years retiring from Clinton Correctional Facility in 2005. Bob enjoyed NASCAR, repairing motor vehicles and classic cars. He especially liked taking road trips in his Mustang. Bob also enjoyed putting puzzles together and doing crossword puzzles. His greatest joy was helping and caring for family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Marie LaVarnway, a sister-in-law Elizabeth "Liz" LaVarnway and a nephew John D. Chisholm. Bob is survived by a son Jesse LaVarnway and his fiancé Riley Rock of Plattsburgh, a daughter Jamie LaVarnway of Metairie, LA, his siblings, Bonnie Chisholm-Green and her husband David of Palatine, IL, Shirley Butler and her husband Bob of Cadyville, Nancy Russo and her husband Jerry of Plattsburgh, Rodney LaVarnway of Cadyville and Carol Ann LaPointe of Cadyville, two grandsons whom he adored, Aden LaVarnway and Kenneth McCandless-LaVarnway, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. At Bob's request, there will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday December 26, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at St. James Church in Cadyville, N.Y. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
