Robin Jane LaSalle

August 10, 1956 — December 2, 2025

Plattsburgh, NY

Robin Jane Lasalle, born August 10th, 1956 in Plattsburgh, NY, gained her wings and joined flight with her beloved Red Cardinals on December 2nd, 2025. She was the daughter of Stanley Ira and Audrey Elizabeth Gonya. She graduated in 1976 from AuSable Valley High School and took culinary courses at SUNY Cobleskill. There she could be found sporting bellbottom jeans with her signature hair pick sticking out her back pocket. She married Thomas Francis LaSalle in 1982. He pre-deceased her on January 24th, 2014. She spent many years working at Mold-Rite Plastics.

Robin was loved by all who got the chance to know her. She had unnatural luck at gambling and games of chance—quite possibly the only person you had ever met who won more than she lost at the casino. She loved a day at the casino and a buffet lunch spent with any loved one who could stand to watch her repeatedly win. She spent her life doing large jigsaw puzzles, and nothing annoyed her more than a yard-sale puzzle find with a missing piece.

She could often be found planting large flower beds and gardens; nothing made her smile quite like a perfect Dahlia on a summer day. She was always fascinated by birds and loved their beauty. Wherever life took her, she made sure she could attract the birds outside her windows. Robin loved Saturday game days with her siblings, when they all got together playing dice, cards, and bingo. She lived for those game days and baking a dish to share.

Robin loved most holidays where family gathered. Christmas was especially special for her, and she cherished when her immediate family all came together. She just couldn’t wait to see her grandchildrens’ faces on her most favorite holidays. The moments will be forever cherished by her grandchildren Abigail Jane Marant, Casey Francis Marant, Brenden Charles Marant, Dahlia Jane Lasalle, and Ray Lasalle. When her children Lenora Emily (Khris) Clukey, Thomas James LaSalle, and Eric Peter LaSalle all gathered, you would not find a happier mother in existence.

Her family especially adored her sense of humor—like the way she insisted on calling pancakes “pannycakes,” a word that will forever bring a smile to those who knew her. And if you ever asked her too many questions at once, she’d flash that classic look and say, “You writing a book?”—a line that her loved ones will hear in her voice for the rest of their days. She was also famous for gathering intel on her children and claiming “A little bird told her” but never reviewed where her information came from. Her family will never miss a chance to laugh about how she pronounced Jalapeño. She had no shame pronouncing the J and sounded like Ja-Lap-i-No.

Robin grew up in a very large family with 12 siblings. She is survived and deeply missed by Larnie Neal Gonya, Janet Lynn Wood, Kathleen Sue Covel, Zana Marie Furnia, Jeannie Mae Buskey, and her closest in birth and in life, Tammy K. Gonya. She was predeceased by Ellen Mildred Bruno, Gloria Jean Gonya, Diane Lee Gonya, Russel Miles Gonya, Kieth Allen Gonya, Gary Harry Gonya and her many nieces and nephews.

Per her wishes there will be no services. In lieu of flowers or donations please consider sponsoring a family or child at the Clinton County Christmas Bureau. Robin loved giving to those in need and always sponsored a child whenever she was able.
