Mr. Ronald H “Ronnie” Prenoveau passed peacefully at Victory Place on January 21st, 2021 in Plattsburgh, NY at the age of, wait for it...85! Can you believe it? His passing was marked by speaking with all his siblings on his 85th birthday and outliving all his buddies.
Ronald is survived by his two Sons, Scott and Thomas Prenoveau both of Plattsburgh in addition to his brother Joseph, and sisters Pat, Mary, Judy and Nancy along with four grandchildren Nicholas, Zoe, Nicole and Amanda and great grandchildren Kaylynn and Alice. This is but a mere snapshot of the family, extended family and friends from those 85 years.
Ronnie was born on a cold January 20th, day in the year 1936 entering this world in a small house on South Catherine St in Plattsburgh NY. He was the first child of Harvey and Alice (LaPoint) Prenoveau. Ronnie graduated from Our Lady of Victory Academy in 1952 and entered the US Air Force where he was stationed in Germany. Whether attending Oktoberfest in Munich or riding the Orient Express through Europe and on to Venice, Ronnie made the best of military career serving his country honorably. After discharge Ronnie returned to “the burgh” and met his future former-wife Shirley, while running around the “North Country” They were married and although delayed by a few years, Son number 1, Scott was born followed by Son number 2, Thomas. “The Postman Always Rings Twice!” Ronnie was a valued employee of the United States Postal System for 30 plus years and a proud member of the National Association of Letter Carriers.”Union First” was never too far from his mind. Following a rewarding career, Ronnie retired and for a while, grew feathers and became a “Snow bird” splitting his time between Plattsburgh and sunny NALCREST in Florida. After returning to being a full year resident of “Fox Hill”, Ron was a charter member of the Victory Place residence at his old alma mater. There he extended his family once more and Julie was family to him, Thank You so much Julie!
Ronnie was a diehard New York Football Giants Fan, but for some reason, come summertime became a trader and cheered for the Boston Red Sox and then came winter, where he rooted for the New York Rangers. “What gives Dad?” Ron was a valued member of the American Legion Post 20, Moose Club #2390 and charter member of the NALC #358.
Due to a combination of circumstances, and Ron’s wishes, there will be no calling hours and in lieu of a funeral, a mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church later this spring, COVID willing of course. The family would like to thank everyone who touched Ron’s life over the years, but especially, the extraordinary Staff at Victory Place. You will always have our gratitude.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.
