Royal R Wellman

Royal R. Wellman Sr, 74, of Plattsburgh, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022. He was born in New York, NY on December 25, 1947.

Royal was owner of Plattsburgh Window Cleaning business for over 40 years. Prior to his final career as a business owner. He worked in several professions a Corrections officer in Fishskill Correctional facility, he worked on Wall Street as a Stock broker. He also in his earliest days worked as a NYC cab driver and had the privilege to encounter many celebrities as he drove them to their destination. He was published several times over the years about his business in the Press Republican. His business included local small shops, as well as commercial business and restaurants. He was a minister of the Jehovah Witness religious community, beginning as a young teen. He moved from Manhattan NY in 1977 to Plattsburgh NY. In his younger years he liked to hike and camp many of the high peaks in the Adirondacks. He enjoyed various physical activities such as basketball, biking, and running. His greatest enjoyment was his love for the Bible. He was well known in the area discussing Bible teachings to many people from all walks of life and ages. He conducted Bible study groups at several local correctional facilities weekly. He enjoyed spending time with his 4 grandchildren and wife.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Shirley, son Royal Jr., daughter in law Tina, grandson Jaeden, his daughter Zetra, son in law George, and three granddaughters Elisse, Sophia, and Phoebe. Also, his brother Stanley, sister-in-law Sheila, and nephew Damon, Damon’s wife Robin, and Damon’s children Autumn and Kobe. He is predeceased by his mother Virgina Watkins and father Stanley “Buster” Wellman.
