Ruth Clackler

Ruth Clackler passed away on Friday February 9, 2018 at her home in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Born on December 8, 1932, to Bill and Rosalie Taylor of Ben Lomond, AR., and named Mamie Ruth Taylor, she simply went by the name Ruth. Her pre-teen years were spent in rural southeast Arkansas, than she spent her teen years in Miami, OK., before marrying Otis Yale Murphy, Jr., on March 23, 1950. Ruth and Yale were parents of one son, Michael Lee Murphy. After several years in Oklahoma, Kansas and Mississippi, she moved to Chazy Lake, N.Y. in 1961, then Cadyville, N.Y. before moving to Plattsburgh, N.Y., where she and Yale divorced in 1989. Ruth was an interior decorator/designer who first worked with Ann Collins in Plattsburgh, then with The Spinning Wheel and Larsen Interiors in Plattsburgh before purchasing Larsen Interiors in 1986 with her partner, Eleanor Frenyea. Ruth and Eleanor closed Larsen's in 2008. On May 1, 1996, she married John D. Clackler in Plattsburgh, and they were still happily married when she passed away. She was pre-deceased by her parents, James William "Bill" Taylor and Cetha Rosalie "Rosalie" Wade Taylor, and her first husband Yale Murphy. Surviving are her husband John Dovard Clackler, her son, Michael, John's children, Michael Andrew Clackler and Julie Morriss Clackler, and a sister, Rachel Ann Taylor DeHanas and her husband Jack. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great grandchildren, plus four nephews and their families. A Lady she was and is. At Ruth's request there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held later in the year at Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
