Sally J. Tourville, age 92, of Plattsburgh, NY, passed away peacefully with the love of her family surrounding her on December 21, 2024, at UVHN:CVPH Medical Center.
She was born on October 10, 1932, in Port Washington, NY, the daughter of Frank and Beatrice Haron. Sally moved to Plattsburgh where she met and married Clement (Joe) Tourville, raised two children and pursued her teaching career for 38 years. Sally was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, teacher and friend, who was known for her selflessness, kindness, generosity and dedication to her students
Sally was predeceased by her husband, Clement (Joe) Tourville, infant son, James M Tourville, and sister, Patricia Pizzagalli. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Yrigoyen and her husband Dan, her son Joseph (Tony) Tourville and his partner Amy Brennan, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her long time partner, Donald Woodward with whom she enjoyed life until her passing. During this time she bonded closely with Don's family, especially Heather and Dan Courneene. Sally is also survived by a host of friends and students who will cherish her memory.
Sally's legacy lives on not only in her family but in the many lives she touched as a friend and teacher. Her compassion and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Sally's life will be celebrated with calling hours at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY on June 20th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held immediately after at St. Peter's Church, 114 Cornelia St, Plattsburgh, NY, with burial at Mt Carmel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sally's name to the local SPCA.
