Salvedeo Righi, age 92 passed away on July 21st, 2025, at CVPH Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Sal was on born March 28, 1933, at Physicians Hospital Plattsburgh, New York, the son of Giordano and Laura (Thompson) Righi.
After attending city schools, he graduated from Our Lady of Victory Academy class of 1952. Sal entered the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. At Fort Benning, Georgia, Airborne School he earned the Army parachute badge, after five successful training jumps, and jumpmaster rating at the completion of jumpmaster school. Upon completion of the training, he returned with the 11th Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
While in the Army he married Denise Premore, daughter of William and Rita Premore. They raised two children, Dino and AnnMarie Righi. After his military tour he worked as an apprentice carpenter for 6 months before attending PSUC Plattsburgh on the G I Bill. While attending PSUC Plattsburgh, he was employed by the City of Plattsburgh Recreation Department. Sal was an assistant to Superintendents Peter Blumette and Bryon Bissonette.
After receiving his K-12 teaching certificate, in 1959, he joined the staff at Monty Street School. In 1965, he moved, with the sixth-grade classes, to the old Junior - Senior High School on Broad Street. Later in, 1980, the new Middle School was completed and students / staff moved into the facility. In June of 1995, Sal retired from teaching after 36 years of working with fantastic students and faculty.
On the same day, he retired from the Recreation Department after 40 years of continuous service to the city of Plattsburgh. Sal was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 20, Moose Lodge and OLVC.
In retirement Sal enjoyed wood carving, working on small engines for friends and amateur radio, call sign WB2RRB. But the most important on his list was spending time with family especially grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sal wanted to thank all the administrators, faculty, staff, students and friends who made his life's journey a successful and enjoyable trip.
On March 10, 2019, he lost the love of his life Denise. He could only thank the good Lord and Denise for the family they had provided him with. Although they were heartbroken, they took care of him the remainder of his life.
He was predeceased by his parents, wife of 64 years Denise, his brother Jordan Righi and wife Patricia, and his brother-in-law Harold "Rebel" Hicks. He is survived by his sister Laverne Hicks.
