Shay Haggerty McAuliffe, 51, passed away on July 27, 2025 while residing in Dallas, Texas.

Born October 11, 1973, in Plattsburgh NY, Shay graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1992 and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Plattsburgh State University in 1996.

For over 25 years; Shay dedicated himself to his career path with Pearson Assessment, helping to contribute to the field of standardized assessment.

Shay was passionate about soccer and basketball, enjoying these sports as a player and a spectator. In the realm of athletics, Shay is most know for being one of Chazy’s most dynamic and memorable goalkeepers. In his adult years, Shay spent a tremendous amount of time absorbing new knowledge through books, cooking his favorite meals, and landscaping throughout the summer months with his father, John.

Shay was widely known for his gentle nature, kindness, and his unending willingness to help others. He was a modest and thoughtful person who never wanted to see good things go unappreciated or wasted; reflecting a sincere sense of concern for others as well as the simple things in life. All who spent time with Shay in recent years can instantly picture him wearing a comfortable pair of cargo pants, a broken-in flannel shirt, and a subtle expression on his face.

Shay is survived by his mother, Rae Perry McAuliffe, an older brother Robert (Kristin) McAuliffe and their two children, Ava and Jack. He is survived by his younger brother Patrick McAuliffe, his nephew William, and William’s mother, Caryl Provost.

He is survived by many aunts and uncles including Bill and Kathy McAuliffe, James McAuliffe, Jerry and Marie McAuliffe, Connie Tuning, Wendy and Paul Jarecki. In addition Shay is survived by many cousins on both sides of his family.

It goes without saying that Shay is also survived by many special friends, who were like family to him, including Christopher Gondek, Kevin Keuleman, Rich Martin, Tim Martin, John Bourgeois, Tim Collins, and Joseph Coulombe. Shay’s very dear friend Erin Giroux, and her husband Steven, were especially close with Shay and having resided in Dallas for many years they have remained a tremendously important connection for him.

Shay is preceded in death by his father, John McAuliffe, his Aunt Karen Saroj and her husband Satish, and his Uncle Randy Tuning. He is also preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Calling hours will be at Brown Funeral Home on August 17, 2025 from 3:00 to 5:00. A Mass will be held on August 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chazy, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the local food bank in Shay’s honor.
