Shirley Janet Reome (Spooner)

Our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Shirley Janet Reome (Spooner), who passed away peacefully into the Lord's waiting arms in the early morning hours of June 28, 2026.

Shirley was born in Plattsburgh, New York, on April 2, 1936, to Joseph Spooner and Georgianna Crooks Spooner. She was proud to have attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic School during her formative years. A deeply faithful woman, Shirley always put the Lord first. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh and, in her later years, St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville.

On October 3, 1953, Shirley married her high school sweetheart, Richard Harry Reome Sr. Together they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage before Richard's passing. They owned and operated Dick's Customizing Shop on Irish Settlement Road, where they became well known throughout the North Country. After retirement, they enjoyed Sunday drives, attending church, and spending time with their large and loving family.

Following Richard's death, Shirley found comfort in word searches, watching crime television, and, most importantly, in her unwavering faith. She lived each day with kindness, grace, and complete trust in the Lord, inspiring everyone who knew her.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Reome Sr.; her parents, Joseph and Georgianna Spooner; her sister, Doris Barber; her brothers, Harold, Donald, Ronnie, Harlan, and Joseph Spooner; and her son-in-law, Brad A. Perrotte.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and will be deeply missed by her children: Richard H. Reome Jr. (Lois), Nancy Reome Price (Bill), Tammy Reome Sears (Dale), and Victoria Reome Marking (fiancé Bryan Brayton).

She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Erika Converse (Ryan), Darin Perrotte (Michelle), Matthew Reome (Anna), Sarah Reome, Leslie Stevens (Chris), Laurie Dubay (Nick), Tyler Whitney  (Becca), and Alexis Marking (Devon); along with her beloved great-grandchildren, including Mackenzie, Madison, Conner, Ryleigh, Dominick, Gabriel, Zachary, Hailey, and Jacob, and one brother, Gerald Spooner.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday July 1, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 2, at 10:00 AM at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Entombment will be at the Town of Plattsburgh Community Mausoleum. A reception in the Emmanus Room at St. Peter's Church immediately following the entombment on Tom Miller Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mother Cabrini Shrine, one of Shirley's favorite places, or to The Foundation of CVPH.

Shirley's unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and unconditional love for her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort knowing she is reunited with the love of her life and resting peacefully in the presence of the Lord.
