Beekmantown Stephen T. Duso, 70, of Durand Road, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday March 29, 2015 at his home. The son of Peter and Lillian (Bashaw) Duso, he was born in Altona, NY on July 21, 1944 and graduated from Altona High School. Stephen was a proud farmer, and in the course of his life also enjoyed being a deputy sheriff, security guard, ambulance driver, orderly, salesman and serial entrepreneur. He owned numerous businesses in the North Country including Photo Royale Studios, Stephen's Bridal & Formal Wear, Duso's Christmas Tree Sales and A Touch of Christmas. Stephen was an accomplished salesman, recognized nationally for his accomplishments. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, establishing the Squires (a youth group) and rose to the Order of the Fourth Degree. A dedicated humanitarian, Stephen delivered food to numerous soup kitchens and needy families weekly and established community efforts to support families in need with regularity. He loved to fish with his grandchildren, tinker, cook and otherwise care for others. He was an avid collector and seeker of bargains. Stephen is known widely for his generous spirit, quick wit and love of a good prank. Stephen was predeceased by his parents, his wife Gloria, and siblings Morton, Homer, Irene, Iola, Ira, Georgie and Floyd. He is survived by a daughter Michelle Duso and her partner Julie Brown and their children Justice Malachi, Dylan John and Cory Michael of Cranston, Rhode Island; one son Stephen T. Duso II and his wife Sharon Kelly and their children Stephan Anthony, LeJon Mykel and Dante Joseph of Beekmantown; sister Violet Korthas of Scotia; brother Donald LaBier of Delanson; many inlaws/outlaws, nieces, nephews and his canine kids Angel and Lexi. Calling hours will held on Wednesday April 8, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday April 9, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Alexander's Church. Inurnment will be take place at 2:00 pm at St. Peter's Columbarium at St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are asked to make donations to St. Joseph's and St. Alexander's Soup Kitchen, North Country Cancer Fund, Hospice of the North Country and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Vermont.
