Thomas M. Douglas, 77, of Dannemora, NY, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the UVHN: CVPH Medical Center. He was born on June 21st, 1949, the son of Donald and Margaret (Kennedy) Douglas.

Tom graduated from Dannemora High School in 1968 and attended one year of college at Albany State University prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was stationed much of the time in Hawaii. Upon getting out of the service he returned to Dannemora and joined the U.S. Army Reserves (310th Field Hospital) and worked at Clinton Correctional facility. He retired from the reserves in Dec. of 1998 as a Sergeant First Class as the Mess Sergeant and retired from the prison as a Corrections Officer in Dec. of 1999. Tom served as Justice of the Peace in the Town and Village of Dannemora from 2000 to 2016. He also served as a Trustee in the Village prior that for many years.

Tom met his wife in 1972 and they married April 3, 1976. They spent over 50 years together.

Tom enjoyed cooking, cooked for many functions around the area, and worked at Jingles for a couple years. Tom had a love for golf and enjoyed a couple leagues he played in. Tom participated in collecting toys for Toys for Tots for many years. Tom and his best pal Rodney Provost co-founded the North Country Cancer Fund. The two worked endlessly planning and putting on functions to raise money. They gave away around $500,00. over the years to help residents of the North Country who were experiencing cancer to aid them with the associated costs with having cancer. This was his "baby" project.

Tom was a Volunteer Fireman and Advanced EMT in Dannemora. He belonged to the West Plattsburgh Legion (1619), Elks and Moose Lodge. Also was a member of the Big Horn Hunting Club for many years. He was in a Coffee Group at Stewarts in Dannemora every morning and Bojangles in Myrtle Beach.

Tom enjoyed Golfing, spending time with his friends and raising funds for different organizations. Tom enjoyed traveling the country and visiting all 50 states before he and wife started spending their winters in Myrtle Beach.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara (King), his princess Lauren Ann and husband Karl Lyon as well as a daughter-in-law Stacie (Jacques) Douglas. His grandchildren: Sean Douglas, Cadyann Douglas, Jarrett Lemos, Theodore Lemos, Thaddeus Lemos, Tommy Douglas, Anthony Brady, Branden Douglas, Kylei Lyon, Caiden Lyon, and Keagan Lyon. His brother-in-law’s Thomas and Linda King and Willy and Shei King. His Uncle Larry and Audrey Douglas, nieces and nephews: Todd Eggelston and companion Jill Heath, Tracy and Jody Eggelston, Maggie Cusprinie, Agnes (Cusprinie) and Ian Jones, Jennifer (Shultis) and Rusty Guerin, Christopher and Kerri Schramm, Thomas and Bethany King, Matthew and Beth King and many great nieces and great nephews. His cat Bootsie.

He is predeceased by his only son, Michael Douglas, his parents, Donald and Margaret Douglas and his sister, Beverly (Douglas) Cusprinie, Uncle Jerry and wife Nell, Uncle George (Porgie) and wife Pearl Douglas, Uncle John and Pat Douglas, Aunt Marie and Tom O'Conor, nieces, Abigail (King) and Adam Jackson, Mary (King) and Robert Dyson, Allison Kng, Amy (King) and Axel Steenburg and one nephew Gary King; sister in law, Betty King and brother in laws Stephen King, Danny Eggelston, and Gus Cusprinie as well as his mother and father in-law Adrian and Marie King. Also, his pal Eddie DuBray.

Tom was a Communicant of Saint Joseph's Church in Dannemora.

Visitation will take place on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Prayer Service will follow. On Tuesday, a Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Redford Legion on Wilson Road in Redford beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Donations may be made to North Country Cancer Fund or Homeward Bound Adirondack.
