Plattsburgh

Victoria Sue Evans, 80, of Plattsburgh, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at CVPH.

Vickie was born on January 19, 1946, to George and LaVerne (Tompkins) Heusser of Ellenville, NY.

On April 21, 1968, she married Robert Evans of Walden, NY.

She and Robert lived in Pine Bush, Tupper Lake, Long Lake, and Mooers. During her working years, she wore many hats. She was clerk, manager, housekeeper, volunteer, Cub Scout leader, custom seamstress, and even a business owner, to name a few. Her favorite jobs were commissary clerk at Wallkill Correctional Facility and Events Coordinator for the Town of Long Lake.

She loved being busy and learning new activities. No undertaking was too big; no aspiration was out of reach with enough determination and elbow grease. In her "off" time, which was often scarce, she enjoyed knitting, quilting, Civil War reenacting, records management, historical research and writing, and even home remodeling including plumbing and electrical work. While in Hawaii, she learned to snorkel. She did it all and never wasted a minute.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Robert. Her children Steven (Cindy) Heusser of Merriam Woods, MO. Daughter Caryn Evans of Altona. Wayne (Kristina) Evans of Plattsburgh. Tammy (Michael) Hughes of Herkimer, Bruce (Tammy) Evans of Voluntown, CT. Siblings Janice Shaughnessy of Queensbury, Patricia Elliott of Stone Ridge, Jeffrey (Joanne) Heusser of Queensbury, Eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

We would like to thank the employees on R3 at CVPH for their kindness and compassion. They treated our mother with dignity and respect. We are grateful for you all.

Interment will be in Long Lake, NY at the convenience of the family. As per her request there will be no formal services or calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to a Long Lake, NY event or charity of your choice or to the Kent Delord House in Plattsburgh, NY.
