Vincent C. Lennon, 93, formerly of Picketts Corners Road, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022 at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility. He was born in Au Sable Forks, NY on July 2, 1928, the son of Thomas and Mabel (Finnegan) Lennon.
He graduated from Au Sable Forks High School in 1946 began working at the Rogers Paper Mill from 1946-1950. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1950, during the Korean War; where he served with the 43rd division for 2 years, including 1 year at Camp Pickett, VA and another in Augsburg, Germany until his Honorable Discharged in 1952. He returned home and began to work for New York State Corrections in 1953, retiring after 31 years of service from Clinton Correctional Facility. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, bowling, and spending time outside in his yard. He was a member of the American Legion #0852 as well as the Siberian Gun Club in Dannemora.
He is survived by his sons, James (Terry) Lennon of Colorado, and Daniel (Elizabeth) Lennon of Morrisonville, daughters, Linda Barnes of Pointe Au Roche, and Diane (James) Sayers of Saranac, seven grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews and his special friend Doris Gordon.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Rita (Meschinelli), his brother John Lennon, and his son-in-law Jeffery Barnes.
Calling hours will be on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 5:00-8:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 12:00pm at St. Joseph’s Church, Dannemora. Burial will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Saranac Volunteer Fire Dept.
The family would like to thank the staff of Chestnut Grove, at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility for the wonderful care that Dad received.
