Virginia Emily (LaValley) Ellsworth passed away on January 17, 2016 at Meadowbrook Nursing Home after a long and fulfilling life. She was born on August 18, 1921, the daughter of Elsie and Fred LaValley. She attended D'Youville Academy graduating as Valedictorian in 1940. She met the love of her life, Francis, at the city beach when she was 14 years old. She married Francis King Ellsworth on September 1, 1940 at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Hobbies she enjoyed included ceramics, needlepoint, crocheting, Jumble and Crossword puzzles. In addition to her being a domestic engineer, she ran, with her husband Francis, the North End Sport Shop on Champlain Street in Plattsburgh for about 10 years ending in 1965. She was predeceased by her husband Francis, who passed away on 1/18/1984; a daughter Carol (Ellsworth) Kesler who passed away on 2/4/2008; a sister Anita LaValley; a sister Lorraine (LaValley) Garcia and brother-in-law Oris Garcia; brother Rodney LaValley and parents Elsie (Varno) LaValley and Fred LaValley. She is survived by 3 children, Robert and Nancy (Forgette) Ellsworth, William and Maryanne (Duprey) Ellsworth, and Barton and Linda (Pierce) Ellsworth all of Plattsburgh. She is also survived by a son-in-law Keith Kesler of Shelburne, Vermont and sister-in-law Patricia LaValley of Plattsburgh, grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were very important to her and brought her much joy all her life. Grandchildren include: Chris and Deborah Kesler of Jericho, Vermont; Jason and Stefanie Kesler of Columbus, Ohio; Wayne and Lisa (Ellsworth) Segear of Jericho, Vermont; Steve and Tonia (Ellsworth) Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado; David and Brian Ellsworth of Plattsburgh. Great grandchildren include: Ethan and Jared Kesler of Jericho, Vermont; Zachary and Olivia Kesler of Columbus, Ohio; Sydney Segear of Jericho, Vermont; Riley Lynch and Peyton Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Virginia's family would like to thank the staff at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility for the wonderful care she received. Calling hours will be 11:00 am to 12:30 pm on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Peter's Church or charity of one's choice.
