Virginia B. Light, 90, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2023 at CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Plattsburgh, New York, on September 17, 1932, the daughter of Lewin and Blanche (Millet) Wilson.
She attended Plattsburgh High School and Plattsburgh Business School. After graduating she worked briefly in medical records at the former Physicians Hospital before marrying her high school sweetheart on October 25, 1952.
She enjoyed listening to opera, camping with her husband and family at Fish Creek Campgrounds in the summer, and square dancing with friends on the weekends. She learned how to swim in her 40's and became an avid swimmer for several decades thereafter.
She was well known for her gregarious nature and her love of animals. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by friends and family.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brother Wendell Wilson; sisters-in-law Beverly Elliott and Shirley Rabideau; brothers-in-law Kenneth Burl, John Elliott and Frederick Rabideau; niece Patricia Lavigne and nephew Patrick Elliott.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years James Light; sons Gregory and Glen (Kathy) of Plattsburgh, and James (Marjorie) of West Hartford, Connecticut; daughters Pamela (Dennis) LeFebvre of Plattsburgh, and Kim (Ned) LaClair of Fitchburgh, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her sister Lola Burl of Plattsburgh; granddaughters Stephanie Eames of North Bennington, Vermont, Laura Dobson of Morrisburg, Ontario, Canada, Amanda LaClair and Chelsea LaClair of Leominster, Massachusetts, Ashleigh LaClair of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and Nicole Light of Plattsburgh; grandsons Daniel LeFebvre of Barre, Vermont, Craig Light of Arlington, Vermont, Aaron LaClair of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and Jason Light of Dannemora, New York. Additionally, she is survived by ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind countless friends.
Most recently, her home was at Madowbrook Health Care, and the family is grateful for the excellent care she received there.
The family would like to extend a special note of appreciation to former daughter-in-law Melissa Light who provided invaluable comfort and companionship over the past year.
The family would like to thank the staff at CVPH as well as home health aides Kristen Huggins, Lauren Lemos, Audra Robare, and Jackie Boyette.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m, at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel.
