Plattsburgh Mr. Walter E. "Walt" Lashway, 89, formerly of Stratton Place and most recently South Catherine St., passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Trident Medical Plaza in North Charleston, South Carolina while visiting his daughter. He was born in Sciota, New York on January 26, 1928 the son of George and Martha (Demarais) Lashway. Walt retired from Georgia Pacific where he was a head shift electrician. He was active in the March for Life for many years and worked the voting polls. Walt enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and taking trips to the casino. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #255, the Bishop Wadhams Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and St. Peter's Church. Walt was predeceased by his parents, his wife Athelie M. Lashway, a grandson Richie Lashway, two brothers and a sister-in-law Donald and Mildred Lashway and Leo Lashway. He is survived his children and their spouses; Nancy and Dennis Wild of Plattsburgh, Rick and Alice Lashway of West Chazy, Pam and Terry Lashway of Charleston, SC., Angela and Staub Spiegel of Plattsburgh, David and Carrie Lashway of Morrisonville, Dennis and Shelly Lashway of Franklinville, N.Y., , one brother Leonard Lashway and his wife Pearl of Ellenburg, one sister Linda LaBarre and her husband Beaman of Watertown and Florida, his special friends; Arlen Favero of Plattsburgh and Viola Lucia of Plattsburgh, his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Joann Helmick of Texas, Polly and Howard Brelia of Keeseville, Marie and Clarence Trudeau of West Plattsburgh, Joyce and Sam Surrace of Watertown, Margaret and Thomas Schmidt of Kingston, NY, Elizabeth Bashaw of Albany, NY, 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Emmaus Room at St. Peter's Church. Members of the Knights of Columbus Council #255 are asked to meet Sunday at 4:30 p.m. for services.
