Wilfred R. David

Wilfred R. David, 83, of West Chazy, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at CVPH Medical Center. He was born on Tuesday, February 2, 1943, the son of John Lanoue and Mabel (David) Lanoue.

He is survived by his children, Jerry David of Missouri; Cheryl David-Cody of Cadyville; Peggy McMillan and her spouse, Eric McMillan, of Peru; Tracy Breyette of Altona; and Cary Gholson and her spouse, Donald Gholson, of West Chazy; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his grandparents, Katherine and John David, who raised him as their own; and his wife of 41 years, Donna David.

Wilfred was born in Wilmington, VT, and later grew up and attended school in Elizabethtown, NY. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he proudly served his country from 1962 to 1966. Wilfred was a remarkable man with a very outgoing personality and an infectious smile that could light up any room. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him would say that he was always willing to help those in need. He would give the shirt off his back, always putting the needs of others before his own. He had a way of making everyone laugh with his silly antics and intense sense of humor. Wilfred was a genuine soul who was never afraid to be himself, always spreading love, joy, and laughter wherever he went. During his long and productive lifetime, Wilfred touched the lives of many who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly loved, fondly remembered, and deeply missed by all who knew him.

Wilfred enjoyed calling bingo at VFW Post 1466 in Beekmantown and attending bingo whenever and wherever he could. He also enjoyed repairing older-style televisions, "jockeying" for his next great deal, finding treasures at yard sales, fishing, frequent visits to the casino, and, most of all, spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Wilfred especially enjoyed dancing to live bands and was often seen attending karaoke at local establishments with his closest friends. Those who didn’t know him by name knew him as the little old man who rode his scooter around Walmart, talking to anyone and everyone. His friendly nature and ability to strike up a conversation with just about anyone made him a familiar and beloved presence wherever he went.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 10, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
A reception will follow, with details to be provided by the family at a later time.
