William Flynn

Mr. William F. "Bill" Flynn, MSGT retired, 83, of St. John's Place, Cliff Haven passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the UVMHN/CVPH Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born in New Haven, CT on November 28, 1933 the son of James Edward and Lillian Gertrude (Martin) Flynn, Sr. Bill retired from the U. S Air Force on December 31, 1976. He served in Korea one year (Non-Combat), England three years, Morocco three years, Guam two years, Philippines two years, Alaska one year. Other short term duties in Spain, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, his final assignment was at Plattsburgh Air force Base. He was a graduate of Clinton Community College receiving a Business Degree. Bill began working for the Town of Plattsburgh in 1982 and retired on December 31, 1995 as Code Enforcement Officer. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Plattsburgh Lodge 621 and the American Legion Post 20. Bill was an avid reader and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and scotch. He married Joan Rogers on October 7, 1955 at High Wycombe, England. Bill was predeceased by his parents, and a brother James Edward Flynn, Jr, and his rescued canine companion Phoebe. He is survived by his wife Joan Flynn of Plattsburgh, three daughters; Tracy Moloney and her husband Robert of Canaan, NH, Jenifer Pummell and her husband Michael of Beekmantown, Hillary Lovato and her husband Joseph of Phoenix, AZ, a sister Lois DeAngelis and her husband John of Hamden, CT, his grandchildren; Jessica LaPier and her husband Courtney, Evan Flynn Weymouth, Charles Scott, Maggie Hammond and her husband Oliver, and Ian Pummell, and great-granddaughters, Shelby Quinn LaPier and Libby Brynn LaPier, and great-grandson on the way, Holden William Bryce LaPier and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY.
